I traced back my doubt
During the wee hours of the morning today, God shed the light on my doubt in Him. I have been in a rat maze, constantly coming up short as I tried to trace back the point in my life when I started to doubt God, but more specifically when I kept asking "would He hear my prayer". There is a long story behind this epiphany and this limited amount of space won't allow me to tell all, but I would like to share a little of what God showed me. Approximately 8 years ago I had a life changing event happen to me. It was during this time of turmoil and so many unanswered questions, that I stopped believing that God heard me. If I'm really being honest, I now see a series of bad choices that landed me in a spot where I was making decisions without consulting God. The compiling of those choices resulted in the being in a spot where I expected God to jump back in and take over where I had failed. I was using God to get me out of the space between a rock and a hard spot. And I expected God to get me out of that spot within my parameters and according to what I believed was the right direction. What I have since learned is that God has always had a plan and He will do things in His time and according to His plan. I also learned that He never really left me, but instead always had a hedge of protection around me, ehen I was making less than stellar choices. But one of the greatest things I learned is I had to turn everything over to Him DAILY if I really was going to call myself a child of God. I have not mastered the act of giving all to Him, but I now feel like I better understand where I went off track, why I started to doubt and what I need to do to help repair my trust in God. I know the point in time where I allowed doubt and fear to rule my life. I now know that God never desired harm to come to me, but instead He has always wanted the very best for my life. I learned that the scriptures tell me to trust Him because He holds my tomorrows.

There is a reason and season for everything
To everything there is a season. Most times we don't understand why, but it's all been predestined. God has always had a plan and purpose behind all that we experience. Even in death, there is a timing and purpose. My prayer for the children of God is that we will listen intently as God leads on the path He has prescribed for each of us. And even as we come to the fork in the road or the boulder that appears to hinder our progression, lead us God to the place you want us to be.

Jesus loves me
Jesus loves me this I know. For the bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Yes Jesus loves me for the bible tells me so. Sometimes in times of great crisis and tragedy, the simple things and memories of childhood come to mind and bring comfort. This weekend a very special young man took his last breath and left this world as we know it. I can't for the life of me wrap my head around his death. But it saddens me that left behind is his young wife and two small children. There are no words of comfort that would really make a difference. All that came to mind was a scripture of comfort for those who mourn and the song we often hear children sing - Yes Jesus loves me. Lord be the comforter for those left behind who mourn.
The God of the "I am's"
In both the old and new testament we see scriptures where God tells us "I am". God is the God of the past, present and future, yet He says I am. What I take away from that is that we as humans need to categorize things in the past, present or future, but for God His promises are sure and done. He said it and that settles it. He is the God of the I am meaning he already knows our future, created the path and plan and is just waiting for us to walk into our season. God is the resurrection and life. He is the way, the truth and the light. He is I am.

Prayers of comfort
Tragedy is so hard to deal with for any of us, but when a young life is taken, it appears to be so much harder to handle. While we all know that death is sure, the death of a loved one, especially one so young is tragic. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to a dear friend who right now must wonder what happened. God, I ask for your arms to comfort. Wrap the family in love as they deal with such a great loss. Be the guiding force and words of wisdom during this time of sorrow and grief. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Prayer will make it alright
When you feel there's no way, just get on your knees and pray. Those are the words to a song we sang years ago. I would like to add that you don't have to wait to pray. But certainly when your back is against the wall and you feel panic rise up in you, I would suggest that you remember that prayer was always the option and nothing is impossible with God. Prayer and communion with God will make it alright.

The King always has the last move
In the game of chess, the pieces are used to attack and capture the opponents pieces, the objective being to "checkmate" the opponents king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture, according to Wikipedia. The game is not over until the king is done. Well the king is alive and has the last move. And no matter how bad things may look and how the devil may plot to capture the king, God doesn't bow out of the game. He is here to prove to Satan that the king will not be captured nor will the kings kids. One of my brothers actually sent me a word of encouragement a few days ago and simply stated, with no explanation needed, that the King has the last move. Well I have no moves left at all. And I am standing on the promise and assurance of the king that He has the last move and say. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. It's not possible. Thank you to my king.

Wait on the Lord
Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage and He will stregthen your heart. Be not discouraged neither be dismayed for the Lord will do great things. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Some trust in horses. Others in chariots. But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
Lots of scriptures running through my mind this morning. What is God speaking to you?

Stir the gift within you
Not everyone is gifted. We are all blessed and many may contribute to the good in our communities. Some of us recognize our purpose snd I hope and pray that you go on to realize your true potential by finding your destiny. But there is a smaller group of truly gifted people out there. Those who have been called out to possess a special gift from God must first recognize that they have something truly special. Now if you are going to use the gift, please know that you will be set apart snd different from the others. It might even get a little lonely. But don't shy away from using and putting your gift out there. Stir up the gift that is in you. As you stir up the gift, many thoughts, feelings, revelations, insecurities may float to the top. But please please understand that you have a God given possession, meant to be shared with the world. Once you fully understand that you have been trusted with something so precious, you must exercise, stir up, use and share that gift, just as God has shared and provided for you. Stir up your gift.

Dead ends
A dead end street means you can't go any further. You cannot proceed. But just when you think you have reached a dead end in life and you are wondering why you can't hear a word from God and you are not receiving the answers you are looking for, please know you are not at a dead end. You are on the edge of opportunity. God is about to show you the plan He has in place. Don't give up. Give it to God. Let go of the doubts. Every ounce of doubt let it go. It's hard, but what is the alternative? Stay on the street that has no option? God is your opportunity. He is not your last resort, He is the way. He has the road paved and waiting for you. Don't give your problems to Him as if you have no other choice. take a deep breath and speak out loud that you yield to God's plan and you relinquish all control. Where you thought there was no hope, recognize that in your darkest hour, when you do not see the way, God has it all in control and He is taking care of it.

If/then statements
We learned in school all about if/then statements in the English language. If you eat your dinner, then you can have your dessert. If you exercise and eat healthy portions, then you will be fit. If you live right, then heaven belongs to you. And of course my favorite: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. KJV
Today I was compelled to sit and commune with God as He instructed me to read 2 Chronicles chapter 7 and do not get stuck on verse 7 alone. For those of you who have known me most of my life you know that 2 Chronicles 7:14 is my signature song. I think the first time I sang that song was over 30 years ago and I still have people request it. So for God to lead me to a favorite passage and tell me to not dwell on something that is in the fiber of my being, I knew it was time for revelation. I read this passage in about 10 different translations and still received the same message. So many things struck me as I kept reading the chapter. First was the glory filling the house AFTER prayer was made, fire came down, the offering and sacrifice consumed. And because glory filled the house, the priests, servants of the most high God could not enter the house. There was no place for them while the glory filled the house. So if you can't enter the house what do you do? You fall to the ground with your face on the pavement and you worship and praise God. Why do you worship and praise God? Because He is good and His mercy endures forever.
Oh my Lord. I can't go on until I fall on my face and worship the Creator.

You do not define me
For years I let others define who I was, what I would become and where I was going. Then reality hit. My walk with God became stronger, I started to not only hear His voice, but I listened and obeyed. And my walk with God grew and I understood more. I found out I knew less than I thought, but wanted more of Him. And the more I listened I came to realize that God is the only one who can define me. He created me, planned my destiny and has written the script. No one else can define who I am, where I am going and what I can accomplish through and by the grace of God. You do not define me. God already did.

Blessed Assurance
Wonderful old hymn brings me peace, keeps me centered and is calming. "blessed assurance. Jesus is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory divine. I'm an heir of salvation. Purchased by God. Born of his spirit. Washed in his blood. This is my story. This is my song. Praising my saviour. All the day long. This is my story. This is my song. Praising my saviour. All the day long."

God turns it around for the good
What was meant to destroy you, God WILL turn it around for the good. Let's just face the facts. Satan is not planning events for your life that are good. He wants you to fail and not solidify your place in the kingdom. And he will use any means possible to ensure you don't hold on to God's unchanging hands. But we can stand on the promises. God did not promise a life void of problems. Our trials do make us stronger, though many times in the midst of a trial we may feel like we may not make it to the other side. But stand firm on the promise that God not only has a plan for you, but He also wants good for your life. So what may have been planned to cause your demise, God will turn it around for your good. This is easy to say, but difficult to experience. Sometimes we spend time trying to figure our way out of a problem, but we have to learn that the way out has been provided and that within God's plan is His hedge of protection which surrounds His children. We will experience peaks and valleys, trials and victories, tribulations and great wins. But evil has never triumphed over good. Satan is no match for God. And what may have been meant for your destruction will be turned around for your good. I pray that God will grant us all the strength to endure and stand fast until we see the victory of Our Lord.
Seek Him with your heart
Have you sought God with your whole heart? I thought I had been until I gave this topic more consideration and wondered if I was just doing lip service. And let me also say I wondered if my seeking was just in times of trouble. I want to be known by God as one of His children who seeks Him with my whole heart. I am a very blessed person. I believe God is ever present with me and guides my steps. I am also grateful that He communes with me and speaks to my heart. It sometimes surprises me that out of no where God plants thoughts of encouragement and words of wisdom that help me in a current need for direction or words that will lead me in the future. But late last night or maybe it was early this morning I asked God to plant His thoughts in me and let my thoughts be pleasing to Him. That's when I started pondering seeking Him with my whole heart. I think I have been seeking Him with part of my heart at times, but during times of stress I seem to be able to put my whole heart into follow after God. I don't want to be part time. I want my walk with God to be 100% without wavering. If we seek Him, we will find Him. If we knock, the door will open. If we ask, He will do it. So I ask God to help me gain a deeper understanding of how He wants me to seek Him with my whole heart.

God is carrying you to the place you should be
We have all probably heard or read the poem entitled "footprints" where in the end God is carrying us. God has always carried us, even during those times we thought we were in control or we thought we could do it alone. God carries us in good times and bad. That's what fathers do. But take it a step further and recognize that God is gently and lovingly carrying you to the next spot on this journey. Sometimes we feel like we always need to see where we are going. But blind faith is at times needed, but difficult. Trust God to have your best interests at heart as He takes you to your next mountain or through the next valley. Again, this may require blind faith. But say it with me as I say it for all of us, God will carry you to the place you should be.

God balances the books
Ask every financial advisor and planner out there and they will tell you the benefits of saving, investing, planning and looking towards the future. But sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of debits and credits. You have to at least have as much in the bank as you plan to take out. Books that are not balanced will lead to stress, frustration and overall imbalance. But what about our spiritual lives? We can never invest more into our walk with God than what God invests in our success. No matter how much we pray, those prayers are just deposits that God covers with his grace and love. But no matter what we do in the name of our God, it never is a balance towards what He does and gives us. But God is not keeping score with our lives. He just keeps giving and giving and pouring into us until we overflow. So we will always owe God, so to speak, yet He does not keep a set of books to see if we are giving as much as we get. Gods grace covers our shortfalls because He balances the books.

Do you hear what I hear?
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: Deuteronomy 6:4. Old Testament. Israel is the chosen people of God. Chosen. God's. His. If you have time, read the entire 6th chapter of Deuteronomy. Eye opening and very clear in God's direction for His people. His words are matter of fact. I'm so grateful when God speaks with such clarity that there is no need for me to wonder nor speculate. Do you hear what I hear? I hear His voice telling me that He is the one and only God. And He is One.
My help comes from God
I will lift my eyes unto the hill from which comes my help. My help comes from God, who made heaven and earth. He is my strength. What an amazing God. The master planner. Help to all mankind. Forgiver of our sins. A very present help in time of trouble. Lifter of my soul. Redeemer of the nation. Healer. Deliverer. Lover of my soul. Overseer of my fate. Hope for tomorrow. Keeper of today. Leader. Provider. He is my all. Mighty to save. Holder of the keys. Way maker. Door keeper. He holds me in the palm of His hand. That's why I lift my eyes to the hill. My help comes from God.

God will take care of you
I guess Satan does not want me to share the thoughts in my heart since I put some words down and poof, they disappeared. Oh well, I am trying again. If you have been a Christian for any length of time someone has said to you "trust in God". There are moments in time or possibly even days that trusting is easier said than done. As humans we try hard to maintain control over our lives. I think it's because we know deep down we have no real control. We all get to that point where we know we have to have steadfast faith in God, but what happens when we waiver? The past few weeks have been exceptionally stressful for a member of my family. It was so easy for me to say "God will not leave you alone and has everything over control". But the more I thought about the words that came out out of my mouth, I had to admit that I am not always at that place of full trust. As a matter of fact, I have to come clean and say I am human and I doubt. I want to be one of those Christians who lives in the clouds every day, but my feet are on this earth with some very real stumbles and falls. But my doubts don't negate the facts. God has it all under control. He will take care of all of your needs. Even when we don't see the open door, God carries the keys. Trust in God. He knows and holds our future. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a plan for us and His plan includes peace and hope. So even if doubts plague you, hold on with all that is within you and tell God that you will trust Him because you know He cares for you. God wants your life to be full and filled with Him. He only wants the good for you, even if all you see on the horizon is the bad. He has the plan for your life. Trust Him enough to recognize you can't do it on your own and put your faith and hope in Him. God is and will take care of you.

This vast earth
From sea to shining sea. Right now I am literally in the middle of the ocean on a cruise and enjoying the splendors of God's handiwork. Only God could create the earth with oceans spread far and wide. Only God could provide man with the knowledge to build a multi ton ship that could sail the open seas. Only God's handiwork could help His creations on this earth fully comprehend the wonders of the world. Thank you God. I am amazed by you.

Hurricane Sandy prayers
I grew up outside of NYC in Connecticut. I certainly spent plenty of time in NY and NJ during my formative years. Now that I reside in Houston and have experienced the devastation of a hurricane, I know that we as Christians need to band together in prayer for those who are probably experiencing a great deal of fear and uncertainty. My prayers are with those on the east coast. Please don't think you are forgotten. You are being bathed in our prayers. Our hope is in God. Rest in His loving arms.

What does worship look like to Him
I don't have the answer, but I do wonder what our worship looks like to God. Is He excited when we come into a his presence or is He wondering when we will get to the "real thing". Hmm. All I know is I was created to worship Him. And some how when I think about what that is supposed to be or look like, I don't picture this subdued or boring delivery. While I am so often star struck in the presence of God, I don't fail to offer thanksgiving, praise, appreciation or sharing my devotion and excitement. While worship may take many forms, don't buy into the belief that it's cultural. So not true. He is the supreme being over all mankind. Don't get it twisted folks. He is God, worthy of and expecting our worship. You are either grateful or your not. You either understand that you were put here to worship or you just don't get it. What do you think He is looking for from you?

Does God hear and accept our worship
I think it's time to go back to the scriptures and research God's definition of worship. I encourage you to do your own digging into this topic because you may end up in a curious position. Does God even acknowledge what we define or demonstrate as worship or are we so far out in left field that God doesn't even bother to show up and accept the sacrifice of worship? This thought struck me heavily today because if I am just going through the motions and my motions are not showing up before God as sincere and in accordance with His definition, then they are just motions. So why would He show up? Hmmmmm....Father can you hear me? Will you teach me about worship? And once you teach me, will you accept my worship at your altar.

My amazing God
I have been praying for the impartation of some soul stirring, God inspired preaching and teaching. I prayed this past weekend for doors to open and 3 doors opened over a two day period. Three doors opened in places I had never been. Have you ever experienced a hot day while you longed for a cold glass of thirst quenching water. Then you drink the water and you feel new, refreshed, revived? Well the God infused, inspired preached word of God was my drink of water. I was fed with spiritual food of heaven, manna. No intellectual mumbo jumbo. Just bible based word. I soaked up every word that I could ingest from the opportunity presented to me and I felt spiritually renewed, which I needed during this week. Those sermons are carrying me through some unknown dark hallways this week, but I will emerge victoriously. Thank you God that someone is still out there, allowing you to use them to deliver your message.

Stand strong
When everything around you appears to be chaotic or crumbling, hold on to the one sure thing in this world. God. The trials of this life may get you down. We have all been in that spot when we feel like the load is officially too much and God has surely put to much on us. But even if your legs start to wobble and your arms are tired don't give up. Just hold on. He will être then your heart, legs and arms. I promise. It's one of the many promises of God that we can stand on because it's true and sure. If all you can do is remember how He brought you through the last time, then do it because He will do it again. Stay strong. Stand strong.

I find your lack of faith disturbing
Amazingly powerful statement. Who said that? Sounds like something Jesus or the disciples might say or maybe even one of the prophets of the old testament. Want to venture with a guess at chapter and verse? Well, it's not a quote from the bible. Imagine my surprise when I learned it's a quote from the movie Star Wars, spoken by none other than Darth Vader. Yup. Darth Vader. The topic of faith has come up a great deal recently in various conversations. My mind keeps going back to the scripture found in Jude verse 20. "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost," . Please read until the end of the chapter. What I love about verse 20 is the admonishment to build yourself up in faith, not relying on someone else and God even told us how to do it - pray in the Holy Ghost. There you go. Asked and answered. How powerful is that scripture? Amazing. God provided the path. Now its up to us to grow in grace and faith and one way to ensure that WILL happen is through prayer. Wow. So what is our excuse for lacking faith? Well simple answer and excuse is that human nature causes us to doubt or exhibit fear. But stand on the promise you just read. Pray in the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit and you will be in the process of building up your faith. Can I hear an amen somebody?

God is my hope
Contrary to what some may say, life has it's share of bumps and troubles. We don't always get what we want and sometimes we don't even understand why things did not work out. But hang in there. Somehow, someway, God has a plan for you. Yesterday I experienced a set back in what thought was what God had helped me to see as a move forward strategy. But I didnt get what I wanted and I remain confused as to why. But I know He still has a plan for me and my best interest at heart. So I will openly admit that I am asking God what's next and until He answers, I wait and hope and pray and try very hard not to pout, but instead show Him my gratitude for what has already been done. So I have to put my hope and trust in God. I don't have the answers and even if I thought I did, I have lived long enough to know my plans are not Gods plans. And my ways are not Gods ways. My hope is in God.

In Him you will find rest
Rest. Peace. Understanding. Contentment. Fulfillment. It's all in Christ. I thought of the scripture where we are commanded to bring our burdens to God because in Him we will find rest. We can't carry the load ourselves. We are not capable nor are we equipped. But most importantly, we are not supposed to struggle under the load of life. It's a test folks. Are you going to try to prove God wrong by trying to carry the cares of life on your shoulders and fail miserably or will you follow His word and from the beginning give it to Him to sort out and deal with the solution as He planned. Don't waste time trying to figure it out. He already worked it out. Why don't you ask Him what He decided for your life.

God inspired
I am God inspired. That's not a statement of bragging. It's a declaration and a promise I will stand on because my Father loves me. God speaks to me in His way and I am grateful. He could be silent and there certainly have been many times when I deserved his right to be silent, but he kept speaking to me in spite of me. God speaks to me. God inspires me. When I wake up in the morning with a song of praise in my heart, I am inspired by God to walk in His light and follow in His foot steps. At times God inspires me to write, other times He inspires me to encourage others. Other times I am inspired to intercede through prayer. I am blessed because God inspires me and I appreciate those times when I walk on a cloud filled with His spirit, direction, vision, words of exhortation and love. I am inspired by God.

Let the church say amen
Amen = so let it be. It's a declaration, an affirmation. A show of support. Amen. I grew up in a church where hearing an amen was very common and your sign of agreement with what was being spoken. But I also think of amen as being a spoken action that says "it's done or finished" so let's just say "amen" and go home. I smile when I think of that because the end of church services for us was a declaration to God with "amen" said as the signal that it's done and church was over. I also love the song that says "let the church say amen. God has spoken so let the church say amen". Yup. God said it, that settles it. Say amen somebody. I think what I am really trying to say is that His word, God's word is settled in heaven, declared on earth and a done deal. So just say amen cause it's already been established and we can stand on the promises of God.

Where is God taking you?
Have you asked a him or are you just going along for the ride? I see no problem in asking God this question. His response may be "wait and see". On the other hand He just may share details of the journey. In either situation, I believe we need to be open and ready to receive, follow, learn, experience and rejoice. God, where are you taking me? I certainly try very hard not to dictate or tell God where to take me because I will be surprised that His way is not my way. All I can really do is inquire, wait patiently (so hard at times) and be receptive of the mentoring moment God is providing.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the light
When will we instill the message of faith in our children and those around us. I am amazed at what is taught in churches today, yet the basics of this being a walk of faith seems to be escaping the pulpit. We walk by faith and not by sight, says the scriptures. And yet, we have allowed a generation of Thomases to convinces us that they must see before they believe. This walk with Christ requires blind faith. We are not always going to see with our natural nor mental minds all that God has to reveal. And we won't ever meet our true potential in our walk with Christ until we can close our eyes and just follow the voice that says "come". God doesn't owe us explanations. He already provided the ultimate proof. His life. So for those who have to see in order to follow Jesus I can assure you that He is not dying on the cross again. He already did that and he died for our sins. Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed. I don't need the research. I already know Christ paid the price. I don't need to be convinced by a man. The man named Jesus already showed me. So if you are still waiting for the research paper to prove that God is alive, I encourage you to read your bible and ask God to show you the way. Don't be a current day doubting Thomas. Just take the bible for what it is. The truth, light and the way.

Marking time
Not sure why my precollege music days are in the forefront of my mind today, but I look back with fond memories to the orchestra, jazz band, swing band and marching band. What does that have to do with marking time? In marching band, when we were not making forward progress, our band director told us to mark time. We were not still, but we were not moving forward either. We basically were marching in place. My mind started to wander. Is marking time a good thing or a negative. I guess that depends. By definition marking time means:
1. To move the feet alternately in the rhythm of a marching step without advancing.
2. To suspend progress for the time being; wait in readiness.
3. To function in an apathetic or ineffective manner.
Do you see both the good and the bad? The waiting in readiness is good. But I'm concerned about "not advancing" or "an apathetic or ineffective manner". And just as I started to mull over the definitions God spoke and let me know sometimes He instructs us to mark time, be obedient. But if He is urging us to make forward progress and we are pushing back on Him, then there is a problem. So is God trying to drag you out of your situation and you are pulling back with disobedience or did He say stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Hmmmm.

Sometimes you just have to walk away
Things that are not like God at times require you to just walk away. Sometimes there are situations or people that you keep holding on to and they drag you down. When do you make the decision to just walk away? Do you wait until you hit bottom or do you listen to the whisper inside that is telling you are in danger? You can't fix it folks. It's actually not yours to fix. The battle belongs to God. But sometimes the solution is to remember that your hope and trust is in God and in order to remain in His shadow, you just have to walk away from those things, people, situations that are not like Him.

Your Presence is Heaven to me
Have you heard the song "your Presence Is Heaven To Me" by Israel Houghton? Amazing worship song that puts me in alignment with God. Search YouTube to listen to the song in a couple different settings. Beautiful. Join me in worship. Join me in prayer. The body of Christ, the believers need to fall at His feet and acknowledge that in His presence we see heaven on earth.

Don't lose sight of God's dream for you
http://www.christianpost.com/news/veggietales-creator-bankruptcy-humbled-me-killed-my-idol-50119/
Great story and lesson.
Almighty God
Omnipresent. Omnipotent. Omniscient. He, the Lord God Almighty is the king. Today is a day of gratitude to the one who holds the key to the future. Mere mortals have no power, though we at times act as if we create the earth and all of it's living creatures. God owns all, has all, is all and controls all. I'm grateful that I don't have to rely on me and my limited skills or abilities. It's all God. This was a creative weekend for me, an opportunity to use the side of my brain that lends itself to creativity and art. But no matter what my hands turn out, it's nothing in comparison to the Almighty. We just need to recognize that we are nothing except what God allows. We can do nothing except what God allows. We will be nothing except what God allows. Thank you God for allowing. Almighty Father, maker and ruler of heaven and earth, I bow before your throne. You are sovereign. You are king. You are the exalted one. You are the Almighty. Thanks God. I appreciate you.

Time out for church as usual
Occupying a seat in church is a waste of time. Stop the ritual. Stop the usual. It's time out for the same old same old. I find myself yearning for more and I know there is more out there. We assemble together in Gods house to be enriched, encouraged, exhorted, uplifted, instructed and to gain knowledge to continue in the race. And this is a race. The race of our lives. A race of endurance to the finish line. So since we are engaged in a long distance race of spiritual survival, there is nourishments we need to seek on our own as we gain understanding of God's will and purpose for our lives. But when we gather together as a body of believers we are seeking sustenance and nourishment for the journey. It's time out for a casual relationship with God and it's definitely time out for "regular" church. We are living in a time where our survival requires more. More of ourselves, more of a commitment and more revelation from God. If it's church as usual, it's a waste. God is looking for a gathering of believers looking for, expecting and willing to give and receive more. So let's gather together with purpose and not habit.

God lends His strength
A very dear friend of mine is going through great trials and tribulations in her life. Her husband has experienced at least four major strokes in the past year and I found myself asking how she is able to withstand these troubling times as she tries very hard to hold the family together, keep her business going and step in as the coordinator for all the medical decisions that must be made in her husbands life. But just as I was about to shake my head in wonder, I realize that God is lending His stregth to keep her upright. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. The reason why she and we are stronger than we imagined is because it's not our strength that is being tested, but instead it is His strength that is shoring us up so that we can strengthen those who are around us. It never really was about us, but instead it's all about Him. If we look to Him and lean on Him, we will make it through those times when the rest of the world is confused as to how we are surviving. Lean on Him.

Preach the word
God's word. The true and living word. There is so much in the bible to choose from and be led by, that it boggles my mind that preachers would stand in the pulpit and talk about anything other than the inspired word of God. Being called to preach is a blessing and an honor. Use that calling to bring souls to Christ. Use your calling to delivery the message that God has inspired and placed in your spirit. Don't abuse your calling. Don't waste God's gift. You have a responsibility to deliver THE message, not your message. If you are not inspired then it seems to me you must seek God and His unction. Just preach the word so those of us in the pews can be fed and be encouraged to continue in the race. Preach the word.

Year 41
I should apologize for the sporadic postings I have made in the past 6 months. So much going on. So many changes. So many feelings. But most important, so many revelations to work through in my limited capacity to consume knowledge and download from God. I will get into that at some other time. Let me deal with what I should dealing with. Year 40 was the last year in the wilderness for the children of Israel. 40 long years, wandering at times aimlessly, having to learn, relearn and basically wonder. But year 41 came about, rolled off the calendar and a new day dawned, a new experience. And the past was left behind and newness came about. I am in year 41. Nope, I am certainly not 41 years old. Left that behind so long ago. But I have turned the corner and I am no longer wandering and wondering. The days of the wilderness are gone. There is only revelation and the leading of the spirit of God in front of me. In the 41st year, the children of Israel walked into the future and the promises of God. It's time to stop wandering aimlessly, trying to figure out what the plan is. Stop wondering what your purpose is in Christ. He has told you countless times and you refuse to embrace His promises and plan. Walk into your 41st year with confidence and knowledge. Walk in His presence. And while you are walking into your season, walk away from this people, places and practices that tie you to the wilderness. Leave the wilderness experience behind because it was a season and an an opportunity to build upon who you were, but the wilderness is not part of your present nor future.

Stand in the gap
At some point in time I will talk about the subject of bullying in the Christian community, but for now (and there is a tie in) I will chat on standing in the gap. There are really two thoughts processes that need to be addressed, but not enough time nor space. Let me pose the questions for your consideration. Will you stand in the gap? What is God asking you to do while in the gap. Let me preface this by saying that if God leads you to stand in the gap, it is not only a lonely place, but it will take courage. There is not a crowd of gap standers waiting for the call. In many instances, there is a remnant of believers, interceding on behalf of His church, thinking they want to be used by God and then the true test comes. I concluded today that my modern day translation for standing in the gap equates to recognizing the current state and needing to move an organization, group of people, body of believers into the future state. Some of you may believe that as believers, we would of course be willing to journey into that future state, because in our hearts we know it is not only what God wants, but what we need. Take it from someone who has made it an art and mission to study people - most people really don't want to make the move. They talk a good game, but are like the Children of Isreal grumbling in the wilderness, longing for the past, for the days of slavery. Even with the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey, some would prefer the current state, slavery,to the future state, freedom because the future requires standing on the promises, exercising of faith and putting our money where our mouths are, so to speak. The current state is at least the devil we know. The future state is the unknown and highlights our fears and lack of trust. So as God beckons you to stand in the gap, are you sitting on the sidelines rather than standing up, stepping out and declaring before God I will be the bridge for your people and lead the way to the future? Or will you sit, weigh the pros and cons and allow the opportunity and calling to pass you by? I am feeling very strongly about this, not because I jump up every time God shows me the bridge I am called to provide, but because I see now the times I missed out on fulfilling my destiny by sitting on the sidelines, paralyzed with fear and God used someone else because I couldn't take the chance and trust Him. Well it's time for us to stand in the gap and make the old ways new and forge the path for those who are standing shoulder to shoulder with us, just waiting for someone to show them the path forward.

Fridays
I am grateful for every day I wake up, breathe, function, feel, etc. You know what I mean. I do love life and appreciate it. But can anyone just say hallelujah with me for Fridays? It's not as if I sleep in on Saturday or Sunday. That is so not happening in this household. 5:00 comes way too quickly and an unnamed member of this household would not dream of sleeping beyond 5:30 unless I have great faith and pray for minor miracles. Anyway, I enjoy Fridays. I have been a believer of the drama free Friday movement for years. I believe Fridays should be our time to reflect (for many of us who have a more traditional lifestyle and must work at a job) on the accomplishments of the week. But I enjoy Friday as my day to look forward to what is often an insanely busy, overcommitted weekend full of activities, to do's and other obligations. But it's Friday. And even if my well laid plans for the weekend fall short of reality, that's ok, I can still keep hope alive! Enjoy your weekend everyone. Take the time for reflection on the good in your life because only you can be grateful to God for His goodness in your life.

God created each of us for a purpose
It's been a while since I have posted. My apologies. Though I was away from the blog, the thoughts did not cease. I remain forever grateful to God for creating me with a purpose in mind. And I am thankful for any day in which I am allowed to fulfill the purpose and God chooses to use me. Have you ever been in that spot where you are overwhelmed by the kindnesses of God and how He brings those kindnesses to the forefront? Maybe you aren't recognizing the kindnesses or blessings that God continuously places at your feet and in your path. Maybe you haven't quite recognized that the challenges you face are actually the blessings of God. Don't complain, but instead look what God has done and is doing in your life to make you into the vessel that is available to Him. Our steps are ordered by God and every experience we have is placed before us with purpose and reason. So open your heart and mind. Step out of your self imposed box and clearly see your purpose. See how God, the Mastermind is leading you in a direction filled with grace and truth. Blessings. Go bless someone else.

God is faithful
One of my favorite hymns is the song "Great is the faithfulness". God has been so faithful to me though I can't say I have always been faithful to him. I look back over my life and definitely see the times when two sets of footprints became one since He was carrying me. I appreciate the times God let me walk besides Him, but I am so grateful for the times He faithfully carried me. I now realize there were many days I did not even realize I was being carried, but through His faithfulness, He carried me anyway. Maybe He would have to carry me less if I consistently yielded my way to His way. Hmmmm. Thank you for your faithfulness God. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your love. Thank you for carrying me. Great is thy faithfulness.

Pray one for another
We as Christians have a powerful tool and we may not realize it's true might. I am speaking of the power and covering of prayer. I know we all know what prayer is, but sometimes I wonder if we realize the power that has been given to us. It has often been said that prayer is the key that unlocks the door. I completely agree. But today I want to encourage you to use that power and tool for the good of someone else. Pray one for another. There are so many out there who need and yearn for your prayers. Don't just do the "me and my wife, Joe and his wife. Us four, no more" prayers. But instead think of those who are struggling, could use a friend and word of encouragement. Pray for those who don't know how to prayer for themselves. Prayer for those who need God and may not know Him. Pray one for another.

He is Risen Indeed
I have been thinking about those words for days and rejoicing in their meaning. The key to salvation rests with the fact that Christ rose from the dead so that we could have salvation. He is risen. He is risen indeed was the greeting spoken among members of the first church. Just as we greet one another with a "hello" or "hey", the first church greeted one another with "He is risen" and a response of "He is risen indeed". And therein lies the difference in this road with Christ. While the birth of Christ is important and His death has great meaning to Christianity, the key to salvation and life after this existence rests on the knowledge and assurance that He rose after death and death did not win. Christ conquered death so that we might have life. He is risen. He is risen indeed.

He proved His love
For God so loved the world that He gave.... No strings. No price. He gave His most cherished gift so that you and I would have an opportunity at life. Everlasting life. What an amazing and unselfish love. And I am sure that since God knew the outcome before He decided to sacrifice His Son for our future, I find it even more mind boggling that He did it for me. God gave His son for our sins so that we might have life. Everlasting life. Such a great sacrifice so that we could live. Though Christ died for the sins of the world, His ultimate sacrifice was for each individual who has occupied this earth. Rejoice not in His death, but in the fact that His life was given in exchange for yours. Now, what will you do with the knowledge that the ultimate sacrifice was made for you? We now have access to everlasting life. He proved His love.

Glancing back and looking forward
Over 30 years ago, my father preached a sermon on the consequences of Lots wife looking backwards. She paid with her life because she refused to look into the future, but was instead obsessed with the past. We cannot change nor fix the past. What we can do is learn from what has already occurred while we walk into our future. Philippians 3:13 and 14 tells us the we should forget those things that are behind and reach forward to those things that are In front of us, press towards the mark or goal of the prize Of the high calling that is in Christ Jesus. Living in the past and constantly looking back does not allow you to step uninhibited into the future. Lots wife actually thought that she was missing something that was behind her and by looking back she lost out on her future. God did not design this body to walk comfortably and assuredly backwards. There is something natural and ordained in forward motion. Glancing back could cost you your ability to walk into your future. Your passed is not your predestined future.

Climb to the top
I believe in encouraging others to attain their highest and greatest achievements. We should each be setting goals and strategies to climb to the top of our tallest mountain. In the process of the climb, there is much to be learned and many paths to cross. Please remember that the paths you cross are filled with people also on a climb. Will you impact them in a positive fashion? The climb is provided to you as a learning experience. Learn much. Share much. To whom much is given, much is required.

For Real?
Many of the most renowned authorities in the world of psychology speak to "being your authentic self" in other words "are you for real"? Is the person you show to the outside world really you or do you put on a persona for others to see. I remember my grandmother saying "you can walk on your tippy toes for just so long, but then it becomes uncomfortable and you have to walk flat footed". Are you for real? Faking who you are is a waste of time and energy. And let's just be honest. God knows your heart. Are you for real? Authenticity should be valued, expected and most importantly modeled. Are you for real? Be your authentic self. It's what God expects and it sure sets a good example for your children.
Aspire to greatness
And while reaching towards your aspirations, inspire others. We should each aspire to do great things with our time on earth. Not for personal fame or glory, but to fulfill our divine purpose and the master plan for our lives. So seek your highest aspirations. Seek to do great things. Seek knowledge. Seek understanding. Seek wisdom. Seek opportunities that make a difference. Seek aspirations that will positively impact the lives of others who inhabit the world with you. But as you aspire to greatness, make sure you inspire others. Because if you obtain those goals with which you have aspired, but inspire nor help those around you with a positive impact, you have gained nothing and wasted your time on earth.

Is God First
God needs to be first in our lives. So ask yourself is He? We all lead busy lives, have competing priorities and juggle at times an overwhelming set of responsibilities. But is God first? Many have amassed wealth, can enumerate accomplishments and look over the years of our lives and feel good about how far we have come versus where we were. But is God first. You may have the roles of spouse, parent, business owner, professional, student attached to your name, but always remember that your love of God and your submission to Him must be at the forefront of your mind, heart and soul. I admonish us to spend a little less time rehearsing into the hearing of others the things we have accomplished or gained and spend more time thanking God for what He has done for us and how He continues to bless us even in our state of imperfection. We have accomplished nothing but by His help and plan. We have amassed "things" only because He has allowed it. Everything we think we own or have accomplished can be wiped out in seconds, but God being the head of our lives and in charge withstands and outlasts possessions or achievements because God is first, whether we recognize it or not. Put God first.

Wise use of opportunities
It's common knowledge that our time on this earth is short relatively speaking. Each of us is given an appointed time and purpose. Anyone who knows me well, knows I can go on and on about fulfilling your purpose while on this earth, but that topic is not my focus today. Instead I would like to encourage you to recognize and see the opportunities given to each of us. God has given you a personal stage. Will you use your time and space wisely? Not every opportunity comes with the chance to verbalize a thought or message for the day. Some opportunities come without our even knowing we are on the stage. But others are watching and waiting and hoping and sometimes even clinging to the chance to witness a moment of uplifting and encouragement. If your mission yesterday was to uplift the spirits of the cashier at the grocery store, did you succeed? All the world is a stage, as the saying goes. Did your opportunity on stage yield positive results on the behalf of your fellow man? Use your opportunities wisely knowing that you are called to fulfill a purpose.

Forgiveness
A few years ago i came across a beautiful song entitled A Heart That Forgives. If you have never heard the song or listened closely to the words, take a moment and listen. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iUV5T9JIJZ0
Forgiveness is often a tough topic to take on for discussion in the best of times and it certainly is not one I can flippantly take on in this format. All I know is the thoughts surrounding forgiveness often drop in my heart. I know the scriptures speak to the importance of forgiving one another. But today my thoughts turned to the fact that God has always forgiven me with all of my faults, missteps, failings and shortcomings. And He didn't have to open His arms and forgive me when I was undeserving. I am forever grateful for My Father being one who shows love and forgiveness towards me. Give some time to rejoice in the forgiveness God grants us. More to come.

Take care of yourself
You only have one life on this earth and one body. There are no do overs with your health, though occasionally we can course correct. Take care of the body that God has given you. Please don't think I am some super health fitness nut. Nope. Just looking back on some of my not so wise choices and realizing they were always my choices to make. I try to do better and follow a better path, but I do wish I had started much earlier in life and kept up a steady and healthy path. Since your body is a temple, treat it as such. You are royalty and should take care of the temple in a conscientious, deliberate and healthy way. Get some exercise on a regular basis. Eat as healthy as you can afford to while taking the time to educate yourself on the good foods our body needs. Nourish your body as you nourish your soul. God loaned you the vessel so please take care of what He has made available to you.

Rise and shine
I grew up during a time when the little kids in church sang the song "Rise and shine and give God the glory". It was always a joy to hear the little ones sing with gusto. Not sure why the song came to me today other than noting I should be of a grateful heart. I viewed the most amazing sunrises and sunsets this week with in a beautiful setting. Being still or should I say, taking the time to see the hand of God in His awesomeness is always a level set for me to realize that I serve and am subject to The Creator, master of the universe. So rise and shine and give God the glory. He made it all.

Come on. Make my day
Have you ever taken the time to consider how your actions can be a blessing to someone else? A word of encouragement. A smile. A nod. A hug. Any act of kindness could be just the opportunity to sow positive seed into the life of an unsuspecting soul. We seem to have left the days of cards and letters, so how about a text or email? Can you pour into the life of another child of God and be their blessing? Every act of kindness will be rewarded. Be led to do good towards your fellow man. What you sow, you will reap.

I can do all things
I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength. Long and tiring week. The "to do" list was so unbelievably long and at times seemingly insurmountable. But somehow the pile got smaller, not because of amazing skills on my part or tremendous organizational aptitude, but it has all been the strength of Christ. He gives me strength. He is my hope. He holds me up. He won't let me fall. He is my strength. So if in the recesses of your mind, doubt is trying to push through to the forefront, stop it right there. God is your strength. He has the plan. He is the way. He opened the door. He gave the direction. He is my strength. Why are you trying to figure it out when He already worked it out.

He restores my soul
He restores my soul and leads me in the path of righteousness.rEedy ration of the soul is so important. Isn't is great to know that we can stop into the service station of God for a restoration session. Any time. Any place. Any situation. For any reason. Sometimes our souls just need a tune up and other times we need to park it for a full restoration. But what is wonderful is the rejuvenation after the restoration. He restores my soul. Thank you God.

Restoration
Waking this morning with a song of gratitude and thankfulness immediately conjured up the word restoration. Restoration of the body, soul, mind and spirit are so important and imminent. I think I need to give the topic lots of thought because I am working it through in my head. I could launch into the many things I think need to be restored in my life but actually I will tell you that I feel somewhat restored because of a full nights sleep. The importance of sleep is underrated and you probably would be surprised at the effect lack of sleep has on your body, soul, mind and spirit. Today I will reap the benefits of restorative sleep in every aspect of my life and day. I will think more clearly. I will worship with a happy heart. I will listen more attentively with an alert mind. I will commune with God. More to come on this topic because I feel in my spirit it is time for the children of the King to experience restoration.

Fear does not come from God
So many live with fear and dread. They fear the unknown. They dread what may happen. Just waiting for that other shoe to drop? Surely what's just around the corner is just more bad news right? You know who you are out there. All I can say is that fear is a state of mind. Change your mind, change your reaction to the outcome. God never promised our lives would always be a bed of roses, but He did promise His love and to give us a sound mind. Don't borrow trouble. When the dreads try to overtake you and while you are holding your breath for the next bad thing to happen may I just remind you that God has not given us the spirit of fear. So if fear did not come from God, where did it come from? Fear not because He is with you. Give it over to God and ask Him to take the spirit of dread from your being. Fear not little flock because it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the keys to the kingdom. Take the keys and soar!!!

My strength is in the Lord
I have no strength except what comes from God. My strength is in and of the Lord. At my weakest points, I always know that I can and must lean on Him. But even at my mightiest heights, it is still weak in the sight of God because my strength is in the Lord. He provides and infuses me with the strength to not only survive, but also to triumph. Thank you Lord for lending me your strength.

In everything give thanks
I would like to share a suggestion made to me years ago. When you wake up each morning let your first thoughts be of the things for which you are thankful. It may feel strange at first, but believe me this will work in your favor. Before you start to concern yourself with the cares of the day, train your mind to first mentally list 10 things you are thankful for. Life. Health. Strength. Good nights sleep. The ability to walk. The ability to think. A God to serve. Your family. A place to live. Food to eat. A job to go to. Whatever comes to mind list those things in your mind with a thankful heart. If this becomes your habit, your approach to life and the start of your day will change. Try it. Commit to doing this every day for a week and you tell me. Isn't life just a little bit different and better.

Leave it at the altar
Many times we petition God for our needs using the vehicle of prayer. Many of us fret and worry, wonder and fuss, stress and get worked up, all because we don't trust God with our situation. We are so different than the next person. Our problems are unique. And evidently our God is not quite big enough or powerful enough to handle our individual situation. So instead of leaving the request at the feet of the Master, we take back the petition and decide to fix the problem ourselves. I just wonder when God asked for our help. If we believe that is He is the true and living God, we would also realize He does not need our assistance with righting the wrongs. So my suggestion? Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. He will work it out.

My hope is in the Lord
As much as I love my family and friends, I have come to understand that my hope and trust must first be in God. He does not change. He does not place you at the back of the line. You are already His priority. You are His heart. So I put my hope and trust in the Lord. He is the maker and creator of man and He mapped the plan for my future. The scripture tells us to trust thou in God and that is one of the many scriptures I can stand on. So, put your hope in the Lord first and your steps will be ordered.

Amazing Grace
Today I am so thankful for the amazing grace of God. I realize I don't deserve grace and maybe that makes this kind act of God even more sacred and special. I look back over so many events in my life and realize the results could have and maybe should have been quite different, but God's grace changed the course of time and outcomes. Grace has stepped in so many times and has allowed me to experience favor and mercy when my actions should have warranted negative experiences. Thank you God for your amazing grace. I appreciate your acts of kindness and love.

Prayer is powerful
What an amazing and powerful vehicle - prayer. the power of prayer should never be taken lightly even if you have doubts regarding your prayers being answered. This week we experienced an urgent family need and we were left with no other avenue or choice but to take the situation to God in prayer. People all over the world joined my family in prayer. I am overjoyed to report that God provided a miracle too amazing to fully comprehend. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say the medical profession is even shocked that the master plan of God surpassed all hopes and dreams. God is amazing. Thank you God for not only hearing, but answering the prayers of your people. Thank you that we know you are a healer of the body you created. Thank you that we witnessed your faithfulness. Thank you Lord for all you have done for us. We are forever grateful.

Be Grateful
An attitude of gratitude. Sometimes we all need to make the time and reflect on the many things for which we are grateful. When we have a heart of gratefulness it tends to put the happenings of life in perspective. There is an old song that says "count your blessings. Name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God has done. Count your blessings. Name them one by one. Count your many blessings see what God has done". Pull out that pen and paper or whatever electronic device you may use and list out your blessings, the things you are grateful for and things for which you are thankful. If you woke each morning and made it a practice to list your blessings and start your day with a heart of gratefulness you will see a change in the way your day will go. Before you worry about the cares of life or go over your to do list or dwell on what may go wrong, fill your heart and mind with thoughts of what you are grateful for and your blessings. This could be contagious.

Searching for the reason
I know there are some who teach that we should not ask God why. I find that asking why helps me to better focus my prayers. I don't question disrespectfully, but I do ask for a better understanding so that if there is a way I can help either by word or deed, I can help in a more concerted or focused way. Today I find myself with sad family news realizing the only way I could possibly help is through interceding in prayer. I do not possess the knowledge nor skill to bring tangible help or a solution to the table, so I will pray. Prayer is the equalizer, the vehicle we all have access to to get us from point to point. It is in times like these that we as humans feel most helpless, but it is also the time when we must understand that our help comes from the Lord, the maker and creator of the universe, the redeemer of our souls. So I will pray and request God's intervening power in what others may view as impossible, yet VERY possible with God. I will look to the hills from whence cometh my help. Our help comes from the Lord.

Chosen
Before the foundation of the world we were chosen by the King to be His child. We were set apart to excel in His kingdom. I feel especially blessed because I realize that my being chosen has helped me understand the responsibility I have to further the message of the goodness that is out there for those who choose to walk in the path designated by God. Just as God chose us, we choose God or not. I choose to open my heart, mind, body and soul to my creator. I choose to listen to the voice. I choose God partly because He chose me first, but also because I want to be one of the vessels He uses to further His kingdom. I am chosen. You are chosen. Will you answer the call and walk in the path that God has placed before you?

Our Hearts Uplifted
Why did I name this blog Our Hearts Uplifted? Because everyone, every now and again needs an encouraging word and a lifting of their hearts. I have experienced in my life crossing the path of the right person at the right time who spoke a word of uplifting. And I believe with my whole heart that divine authority placed us on the path to meet and exchange a word of encouragement. Our hearts need to be uplifted because in that uplifted state we are most able to assist others along this journey. I will be forever grateful to those known and unknown who have been a tool to uplift my soul and spirit. I am a chosen child of the King. And I want to uplift the hearts of those with whom I come in contact.
Perfect Peace
God will keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind stayed on Him. That is one of those scriptures with promise. Or from our elementary school English days it's an "if/then" statement. Perfect peace. I have to admit that every day in my life is certainly not filled with perfect peace, but when I give my mind over to Christ, He does provide the peace. Today is a tough day for my youngest brother. He is conducting the funeral services for his mother in law, a great woman in Christ who passed from this life earlier in the week (see my post on life is precious). This is a difficult time for the family. While we know she is in a place of 24/7 worship of the King, we as humans also feel the loss of a loved one, friend, confidante, and warrior for the kingdom. But the perfect peace of God comes into being at just this time. Since we have a promise from God of peace, we can stand on His word and let Him order our steps while bringing comfort. Great peace have they who love His word and nothing shall offend them - Psalms. Walk in God's peace. It's a promise He left His children.

Legacy continued
Have you given more thought to the topic of your legacy? Have you thought about the influence you have in another person's life? God placed us on this earth to fulfill a purpose. I believe we should take that commission seriously and spread positiveness for the good of everyone with whom we come in contact. Wouldn't it be a blessing to your walk with Christ when others are able to say that their lives were changed for the good because of their interaction with you. So please give some serious thought to your legacy, the influence you have on those who cross your path. Do people think of you as a blessing, one who is an encourager? Do you exhort others to do good and climb to their greatest potential? Is your legacy teaching others to seek wise counsel? Will others be able to say you assisted in their walk with Christ. Do me a favor. Give this some thought and be prepared to strengthen the legacy you leave behind.

What is the legacy you will leave behind
Or if you want it put another way - what will you be known for? The topic of legacy has been with me for well over a year now and I have had various opportunities to share my opinion on the subject. I think our legacy is extremely important. Some people get a bit too caught up in what will they leave their children in terms of the tangible. I am way more concerned about the example we set for anyone who crosses our paths -family, friends, acquaintances or complete strangers. Are you willing to pour into the lives of others what God has freely given to you? My mother, grandmother snd aunts left me the legacy of the power of prayer. I have many memories of actual prayers, sharing their stories of the power of prayer snd watching the magnificent manifestation of their prayers. My mom didn't have money to leave me, but the example she set as a prayer warrior and elegant woman is much more meaningful in my life. Some other post, I will share more stories of my mom and amazing grandmother, but let's just say that I came by my personality and traits honestly. And anyone who knows me, knows that my dad, the reason why I will to this day and age continue to proudly call myself a PK, was a force to be reckoned with. He had great articulation abilities and he shared his love of oration with his offspring. The legacy my forefathers left me is impossible to comprehensively list out, but take my word for it, they equipped me for life, they prepared me for my journey with Christ and they instilled in me a desire to reach high. Their legacies live on in multiple generations and not all of those influenced were of the same gene pool. So give it some thought until I return to this topic. What is the legacy you will leave behind?

God will keep you IF you want to be kept
An amazing memory was brought back to the forefront of my mind that night. Some may not fully understand the sentiments or true meaning behind the topic, but this I know for sure - "God will keep you IF you want to be kept". I am grateful that the God we serve has always been a God of choices. He does not make us do anything - serve Him, worship Him, follow Him, appreciate Him, love Him. But God is a keeper of those who desire Him to play that role in their lives. He will keep your heart in check. He will keep your mind at peace. He will keep your thoughts on Him and the list goes on, fill in the blanks. The God of choices allows us to follow our own direction if we so choose, but His hope is that we will allow God the role of head of our life, the one in control, the one executing the master plan for your very existence. God is the keeper of our souls, our lives, our destinies. but God will never force us to follow Him. God will never force us to give our lives and hearts over to Him. But I know without a shadow of a doubt that God will keep you IF you want to be kept. I want to be kept by God.

Our source of strength
Let's just be honest. Sometimes we just get tired. Sometimes we are weary. Whether you are physically, emotionally and/or spiritually drained, the hope is that we will see God as our source of strength. The scriptures tell us that our steps are ordered by the Almighty God. What comfort that should bring us. God knows when we reach that point of not knowing what to do or where to turn. But if you would just keep in mind that God is your source of life, health and strength you can continue down the path and gain energy as you place your trust in God. Our single source and first choice for strength is God. Lean on Him and let God do the heavy lifting.

Life is precious
Life is precious. Death in Christ is more precious
"Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.". Psalms 116:15
Death of a loved one is so often one of the most difficult events of our existence. but somehow in Christ we make it through and continue to see God's plan unfold.
Today we lost one of God's chosen. She may not be with us on this side of the earth, but I know she is rejoicing with the heavenly hosts that she will no longer experience the pain that was in this life. Sadness may engulf those left behind, but we rest in the fact that there is a better place for the children of God.
I marveled on yesterday as members of my extended family returned back to the home of the woman who was so much a part of our lives and the start of my dad's journey as a leader of a flock. Before we had a building to gather in, we had homes that we went to for teaching, study and powerful prayer. She opened her doors to a growing congregation. And on yesterday part of those who had been there from the beginning had the opportunity to gather one last time to sing praises, share the goodness of God and pray those soul reaching prayers that touched the marrow of your bones. And after that final act of lifting up the mighty name of Jesus, God called His child home.
Lord, thank you for bringing this wonderful woman into our lives and lending her to us so that we could grow in your power and in your might. Thank you Lord for what your seasoned saints have taught us - to love the Lord with all our hearts, to be true to you, to follow your teachings even during the most adverse times and the power of prayer.
My heart rejoices that the "Gladys' are both in heaven rejoicing together". Mother Jones, take your rest.
Be Still
Be still and know that I am God. In the quiet, in the still, God will make His prescense known. He was waiting for you to communicate with Him as you went down your to do list for the day. But there never quite seemed to be enough time in your hectic, list induced day. So I want to encourage you to be still and know that He is God. He is the maker and creator of this universe and it's inhabitants. God is almighty, all powerful, all knowing. And he has a message for you if you would just be still and know that He is God. Not a god. Not one of many. But know that He is THE one. In the stillness there is direction. In the stillness there is peace. In the stillness there is the one who cares for your soul and well being. Be still and know without a shadow of a doubt that He is the one true and living God, there to guide you every step of the way. Be still.

Let it Rain
I hear Michael W Smith singing in my head "let it rain, let it rain. Open the flood gates of heaven". The physical rain is falling but isn't it time for a saturation of God's rain in your life? Do you ever long for an encounter with God that leaves your soul soaked, your mind renewed and your spirit completely free? My dad used to preach about being so caught up in the spirit of God that you felt like running through troops and leaping over walls. Now that is an encounter with God like none other. I believe it's time for the children of the King to ask our heavenly Father for a soaking of His spiritual rain so that we can be washed, clean and refreshed. God, open the flood gates of heaven, not so we can gain more "things" but so we can be the giants you called us to be. We are a chosen people, a royal generation filled with power, might and the authority to call upon the name of the Lord our God for help in time of need. Be blessed because that is what God wants for you.

Did God hear my prayer
So many prayers prayed. Not all of them appear to get answered. But are they really not answered? Did God turn a deaf ear? The answer is a resounding no. We may not ever understand why there is not an immediate and tangible response to our prayers, but that does not mean they have gone unanswered. Maybe, just maybe during those times we are waiting and wondering, God too is waiting and wondering. Waiting for our faith to gain strength. Wondering if we are ready to listen to what He has to say.
He heard your prayer. He knows your heart. He feels your pain. He has a plan. He is the answer.
God will never leave you. He would never forsake you. Just wait a little while longer as He unfolds His master plan for your life. He is the way.
Just Stand
I always heard people quote part of the scripture "having done all to stand..." but I started to give this a bit more thought. Standing for long periods of time is tiring and not always possible. Sometimes you just want to sit and rest. Sometimes you can't stand due to physical limitations. But when you think in the spiritual, you must realize that God is your strength and gives you, His child, the ability to stand unwavering when everyone around you is sitting or given up. Stand up for what you believe. Stand up when no one around you supports you. Stand up because you are obedient to the call. Stand up when you don't see the reason for standing. Stand up, stand tall, stand strong, stand still, stand. Having done all to stand, just stand.

Put your trust in Him
Psalms chapter 20. I can not get away from the thought about trusting God. Read the entire chapter. It's great. But verse 7 is really sticking in my head. "Some trust in chariots and some trust in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.". Trust God to set your path and fulfill your dreams for the future. Trust God to right the wrong. Trust in the name of the Lord to put your mind as ease as you rest in his arms. Trust Him to do the right thing by you. Trust Him.

In God We Trust
Such a powerful statement and worth taking a moment to really understand it's significance. Who do you put your trust in? Given the uncertainty we all experience in our lives, the one constant is God. He is not only looking for your belief, but He is asking for your whole hearted, unwavering trust. God has the solution and a perfect plan for your life. Will you trust Him to do what He does best? In God I trust, even when I do not see the path or understand the direction. In God I MUST trust. He holds my destiny.

Share a smile
You would be surprised how your smile could brighten the day of a fellow human being. Smile. Just smile.
Encourage one another
For a while I have thought about being able to share a word with others to encourage them. Blogging could be that tool. I am giving it a try. For now I will leave you with a thought through scripture. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."
